Abstract
Pharmaceutical services have shifted orientation from drug oriented to patients oriented which direct to pharmaceutical care. Pharmaceutical service in community pharnacy would consist with prescription service and self medication. Most people take self medication as the first step to treat illnesses, one of them is pain problem. Pain can be treated using ibuprofen, a type of that NSAID commonly used. Side effects of ibuprofen caused by medication error could be minimize by using pharmaceutical care. The aims of this study is to determining profile of pharmaceutical care in self medication of ibuprofen at community pharmacy in Kecamatan Lowokwaru, Malang. This study is descriptive study with uses a crosssectional approach. Method used was simulated patient method, in wich author acts as simulated patient and observing objects directly in the field. Results of this study showed from patient assesment variable there were only 13% employee who asked patientÂ’s ilness history. Drug therapy information was delivered by community pharmacyÂ’s employees 46% directly and 49% using directional questions. There was no community pharmacy employees which gives non drug therapy information. This kind of service was done 13% by pharmacist, 16% by pharmacistÂ’s assistant and 71% by other emlployee.
