Background: Stroke is a syndrome characterized by decrease of neurologic function less than 24 hours, the decrease of local reflex in the nervous system and lead to disruption of the brain circulation. Based on the vascular mechanism, stroke can be classified into two types, namely ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Some 88% of all strokes are ischemic strokes and caused by the formation of a thrombus or cerebral arteries embolism. The goal of stroke therapy is to limit or reduce brain damage and remove barriers circulation of oxygen and glucose in the cells which cause infarction. Early arrival of the patient should be ensured adequate respiration needs and help the heart then quickly determine that there is an ischemic lesion or hemorrhagic using a CT scan. Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction. Antidislipidemia that are used to ischemic stroke patients is statins, because based on several studies revealed that drugs statins reduce the incidence of stroke in patients by and without coronary heart disease. Objective: (1) To determine the pattern of drug use in ischemic stroke patients in Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. (2) Knowing the patterns of use of statins in patients with ischemic stroke in RSU Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. Assessing the type, route, frequency of dosing interval use of statins was associated with the patient's condition. (3) Assessing the use of statins is associated with late diagnosis, clinical data, laboratory data and therapeutic purposes. Methods: The study was an observational, descriptive and retrospective. Data collection was done by sampling consequtive. The period October to December 2012 Results and Conclusions: The pattern of statin therapy given in 48 ischemic stroke patients in inpatient hospital Dr. Saiful Anwar poor with a single therapy and combination therapy. Single statin use as many as 47 patients (97.92%), with the type, dosage, frequency and route of most is simvastatin 20 mg / day orally. The use of statins combined with other antidislipidemia by 1 patient (2.08%), with the combination, dosage, frequency, and most of these are gemfibrozil (1x300mg) orally. The use of drugs known antidislipidemia given to patients with ischemic stroke in inpatient Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang, associated dose, route, frequency, interval, and duration of administration is in conformity with the existing guidelines.
