Abstract

The success of teaching English as a foreign language in classroom not only depends on teachersÂ’ skill in writing, reading, speaking, and listening but also by the certain strategy involves communication, leadership, motivation, and classroom management. Classroom management is the process of organizing and conducting a class so that it is efficient and effective and result in maximum student learning. A teacher has a great role in order to make good atmosphere in the classroom when the teaching learning process takes places. Therefore, teacher should know all of the studentsÂ’ activities in the classroom. The teacher must control behavior of students when the subject takes place. This study focused on describing the studentsÂ’ misbehavior in English classroom at the ninth year of SMP Nurul Fata Pamekasan. The purposes of the study were:to know the kinds of studentsÂ’ misbehavior and the causes of studentsÂ’ misbehavior in English classroom at ninth year of SMP Nurul Fata. This study applied descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were one English teacher and 40 students from grade IX-A and IX-B at SMP Nurul FataPamekasan. The instruments used to collect the data were observation and interview. Based on the analysis, the result of this study showed that the studentsÂ’ misbehavior in classroom including: Performing school or academic tasks, Verbal behavior, Aggression, Dishonesty, Social interaction, Immaturity, Sense of self, sleepingand coming late to the class. The causes of studentsÂ’ misbehaviorareAttention seeking, Learning difficulties, TeacherÂ’s ability, and TeacherÂ’s personality andClassroom environment.
