Abstract

Background: Breast milk (ASI) is the first, main and best natural food at the beginning of a baby's life. Based on the 2021 National Directorate of Nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding for babies <6 months was 69.7%, so the target has been achieved at more than 45%. The achievement of exclusive breastfeeding at the Bungi Community Health Center, Baubau City, Southeast Sulawesi is 9.5%. There are various factors that influence exclusive breastfeeding, including the mother's knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding.
Objective: To determine mothers' knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding on gross motor development in children aged 0-6 months.
Method: This research is an analytical research with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 62 people consisting of mothers who had children aged 0-6 months who received exclusive breast milk and non-exclusive breast milk and met the criteria. Measurement using the Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST II)
Results: 62.90% of children received exclusive breast milk, 37.10% of children with non-exclusive breast milk, 95.16% of children with normal gross motor development status and 4.84% who experienced delays, there was no significant relationship between mother's knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding and development. gross motor skills of babies aged 0-6 months at the Bungi Community Health Center, Baubau City (p = 0.548; p> 0.05).
Conclusion: There is no significant relationship or association between exclusive breastfeeding and mothers' knowledge of the gross motor development status of children aged 0-6 months at the Bungi Community Health Center.
