Abstract
This research is titled ”ANALYSIS OF IMPACT OF LAPINDO HOT MUD DISASTER TO TRADERS IN PASAR LAMA PORONG, MINDI VILLAGE, PORONG DISTRICT SIDOARJO REGENCY EAST JAVA” (Study to small and mid-size traders) Whereas the purpose of this research is to know how large the impact of Lapindo hot mud disaster to traders in Pasar Lama Porong Mindi village, Porong District Sidoarjo regency East Java. Method of analysis being employed to analyse data is using qualitative-descriptive method. From the results of the research, it can be concluded as follow, both income and labor were evenly affected by the disaster, causing any decreasing. Before the disaster had occured, the traders who have small store used to get average income ranging from Rp. 200.000 - Rp. 400.000 for 10 traders or about 50 %. After the disaster had occured, however, the daily income lowered to < Rp. 200.000 for 12 traders or about 60%. The same thing occured to traders who have mid-store. Before the disaster had occured, they used to earn ranging from Rp. 401.000 - Rp. 600.000 for 6 traders or about 50%. After the disaster had occured, however, their income lowered to ranging from Rp. 200.000 - Rp. 400.000 for 8 traders answering the questionnaire or about 67%. Labor has also suffered from lowering. Before the mud disaster had ocured, those traders who have small store have employees totalling 34 persons, but the number then reduced to 50% or becoming only 17 persons, before the disaster had occured, each store used to have 1 employee in average number, there are 14 respondents or about 70%. After the disaster the figures changed significantly in which those respondents who lost their employed increased to 9 persons or about 45%, in which before the disaster had occured, none was reported to fill. The same thing occured to those who have mid-store. Before the mud disaster had occured, those traders who have small store have employees totalling 25 employees. After the disaster had occured, however, the figure reduced to 48% or becoming 12 employees only, before the mud disaster had occured average number of employees within one mid-size store was 2 employees, in which there were 7 respondents answering or about 58%. After the mud disaster had occured, the figure had changed in which those who lost their employed increased to 5 persons or about 42%.
