Abstract

There are so many Sports event broadcasted by television. Some of them are events like football, badminton, volley ball. Those events gave certain color to Indonesian television, especially at sports events which have so many fans from Indonesia, not only the old but also youth audiences. Just like as thought before, television broadcast is a multi-function facility for society since by the television, people could enjoy their own entertainment. Since the television get into the society, it was desired by all people. According to Mondry, the huge society in watching television is the largest compared with another mass media. People attention was given to the television broadcast. Through the research, the researcher would like to test how far the desire and satisfaction to watch Indonesian Basketball League in television which was considered smaller than football in television. According to above phenomena, the research aimed to find out what factors influenced desire and satisfaction of the audience in watching Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). The statement of problems from the research was what factor influenced desire and satisfaction of the audience in watching Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) at television (Study at the members of Civitas Bola Basket Muhammadiyah (CIBBM) Malang) The research method was by using qualitative descriptive approach with the 10 subjects. Data collection technique used in this research was semi-structured interview. While data analysis technique used was triangulation. According to the final analysis, factors influenced the audiences desire and satisfaction in watching Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) were: the desire from cognitive aspect which was learned from Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) in television and understanding about Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). Affective aspect related with attitude caused by watching Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) in television, get more exciting experience to an event. Satisfaction reached was the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) events which fit with the audiences desire and needs. The satisfaction felt by CIBBM Malang members were their money stayed since they didn’t have to buy ticket to watch Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) live, getting knowledge about professional basket playing and getting entertainment. But as television media, Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) broadcast shouldn’t only entertaining. It would be better if it contained education elements which asked the audience to understand and love sports. They should present more educated broadcast.
