Abstract
Accompanying the agenda of the 5th congress of Biotechnology Consortium of Indonesia (KBI), KBI also held an international seminar of biotechnology collaborating with the Center for Biotechnology Development of UMM on Wednesday-Thursday (07/28-29). Congress was held at UMM Inn, while seminar was in theater room of UMM Dome. The seminar presented seven speakers from abroad namely Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan (Thailand), Harvey Glick, Ph.D. (USA), R.V. Ebora, Ph.D. and Dr. Inez Hortense S. Loedin (Philippines), Wim Maaskant (Netherlands), Francois Malherbe, Ph.D. (Australia) and Nao Tanaka, Ph.D. (Japan). Meanwhile, three speakers from within the country were Prof. Dr. Endang Sukara, Prof. Jeni Anggara Umar, Ph.D. and Prof. Sandra Ferry. Deputy Minister of Economic Coordinator of Agriculture and Marine, Ir. Maulida Diah, M.A., opened the event and also became the keynote speaker.
