East Javanese Batik Festival 2010 held by Cultural Institute of University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) was expected to be a means of securing the batik motifs in East Java. It was because through the festival, society could directly oversee the nation's cultural works that currently have high economic value. That was one point of speech delivered by Empowerment and Family Welfare/Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) Team Leader of East Java Province, Dra. Hj. Nina Kirana Soekarwo, M.Si, when opening Batik Festival at UMM Dome, Thursday (11/18). The festival which would be opened to the public until Sunday (11/21) was followed by no less than 20 batik stands from various districts and cities in East Java.
