Abstract

The reliability of the distribution channel can be seen from the ability of the electric power distribution system to consistently deliver energy to loads or customers with high reliability. Higher values of reliability indices reflect lower levels of reliability and a decrease in service quality. One strategy to enhance the reliability of the distribution network is the optimization of the use of devices such as reclosers. This research stems from the urgent need to improve the reliability of the Jolotundo feeder system. Initial analysis using the Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) method revealed that the reliability index of the feeder did not meet PLN standards. By implementing Fuzzy Logic, three sections out of a total of eight were selected as a priority for recloser placement. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) was then utilized to find the optimal location for the recloser and minimize the reliability index value. Test results showed a significant decrease in SAIFI and SAIDI values after the installation of the recloser, with the lowest decrease occurring on bus 67, namely SAIFI 1.721209, and SAIDI 5.243459. As for the CAIDI value, it remained stable despite fluctuations, which were not too significant. Additionally, the ASAI, while consistently improving in performance, did not show substantial changes. Bus 67 was consistently chosen as the optimal recloser placement location among other buses in each section selected for optimization.
