Abstract
This study concerned with English department student ability in translating English text into Indonesian, the researcher interested in doing this research since there are many book written in English and readers need ability in translating to understand the content. The purpose of this study was to know the English department student ability in translating English text into Indonesian. This research used descriptive quantitative because used objective measurement and statistical analysis of numerical data to understand and explain phenomena. The population was seventh semester student who join translation II. The sample chooses by simple random sampling and the sample half students from different class the total was 11. The instrument used was translation test. The result from the research of the English department student ability in translating English text into Indonesian was Moderate
