Abstract

ISIS News Coverage in online media is reporting that tells the facts about ISIS is based on reality or events taking place in the online media. Online media is a form of electronic mass media that can only be accessed through the Internet. Citra is the impression arising from understanding reality. Where understanding comes from an incomplete information will result in an imperfect image (Kasali, 1994: 20). So the image of Islam is the impression that arises from the understanding and the fact that views about Islam. The operational definition in this study are divided into two variables: the variable in Online Media Coverage ISIS as a variable X, and the image of Islam as a variable Y. This type of research is quantitative research with basic research surveys. When the study was conducted from July 2015 through the month of August which is located in a place that has been chosen as a place frequented by foreign students in Malang. The population in this study there was a foreign student in Malang, never read the news about online media ISIS at least 3 times a week. While the sample is accidental sampling technique in which researchers found 32 samples at the time of the study. Data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. Based on the results of data analysis has been done, it can be seen that there is a positive influence between ISIS reports in online media on the image of Islam among foreign students studying in the city of Malang. The amount of influence given ISIS reports in online media on the image of Islam is at 0119 in every one unit increase ISIS reports in online media. It can be interpreted that the ISIS reports in online media, small in influencing the image of Islam among foreign students studying in the city Malang.Dari correlation calculation shows that (r2) or the value of the correlation coefficient between ISIS reports in online media on the image of Islam is equal 0013, or 1.3%. Of this amount can be seen that the level of relationship between the two variables is very low.
