Abstract
the research purpose was to describe the reason of Tarbiyah Department create competence in Information Technology Study to its students and describe the efforts of Tarbiyah Department togive competence in Information Technology Study. The research used qualitative approach with the Dean of Faculty of Islamic Science for period 20052009, Drs. Khozin, M.Si, Dean Assistance of Islamic Science UMM for period 20052009, Drs. Sunarto, M.Ag, Chief of Tarbiyah Study Faculty of Islamic Science UMM, Dra. Romlah, M.Ag and Information Technology Lecturer in Faculty of Islamic Science UMM, Ir. Wahono, MT as research subjects. Tarbiyah Study selection Islamic Science Department UMM as setting according to the field finding, firstly, from 29 (twenty nine) students who following Learning Technology lecture in sixth semester year 20092009, there were only five students who able to reach “excellent” score. The second was “contradictive implementation” which two of four students fulfilled Field Study who were placed in Multimedia basic school, Madrasah Aliyah III Malang in Bandung Street. But, the related students didn’t apply the material lectured, especially learning technology subject. The third, 65% from 28 (twenty eight) students who fulfilled the Education Information System Planning in odd semester 20072008 couldn’t reoperate the material given. Data collection were done through participative observation, interview, and documentation. While data analysis used qualitative data analysis model. Research showed that there were two reason why Tarbiyah Department Faculty of Islamic Science focused on Information Technology Competence. They were: First, as the supports of students competence in Tarbiyah Department to be professional force in their field. Second, as the primary competence of Tarbiyah Department Islamic Science Study Faculty of Islamic Science UMM, which the competence differed with the other Islamic Study competence. In giving competence in Information Technology field, there were two process. First, curriculum and development. Second, learning in Information Technology Learning based lecture and practice.
