Language is a communication tool. In using language, there needed a good and correct diction in order to make the message receiver or listener able to catch the communication meaning which would be sent. Diction is a word choosing to express idea, help in grouping correct words or using exact terms in certain situation, grouped diction into three group, they were: (a) general and special diction, (b) connotation and denotation diction, (c) sense diction, (d) scientific and popular diction, (e) concrete and abstract diction. Diction means: “correct word choosing and harmony (in using) to express idea so that there found certain effect (as expected)”. From the statement, there showed that word mastery would influence his/her language activity, including speech. The research was descriptive research about using diction in teacher’s speech at Indonesia Language lesson grade VII at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Junior High School of Malang. Problems statement were: how diction usage in teacher’s speech at Indonesia language learning of grade VII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Junior High of Malang? In general, the research aimed to describe diction usage by teacher in teaching and learning process. Theory used was diction. Diction theory was theory learned about word choosing. In this research, the writer used qualitative descriptive method as procedure sequence used in revealing problems investigated by explaining or describing means contained in word choosing expressed by teacher in communication. Data in this research was teacher’s speech in teaching and learning process. Research result was description of general and specific diction usage, denotation and connotation diction usage, concrete and abstract diction, popular and scientific diction usage and also sense description diction usage. The research was done to find out diction usage in learning process. In learning process, there found so many denotative diction used by teacher.
