Media are very helpful in teaching learning process. Teaching media as complements are used by the teacher to communicate with students. In this study, the writer analyzed about the kinds of teaching media used by the English teacher in teaching vocabulary of the 1st grade students of Elementary School at Pucang 2 Sidoarjo, and how the teacher used the teaching media. In this study, the writer employed descriptive qualitative research. The accessible population of this study was the English teacher who taught the students of the 1st grade students of Elementary School at Pucang 2 Sidoarjo. The writer got the information about the teaching media used by the teacher that is visual media, audio media, and audio visual media. The writer used two kinds of instruments to collect the data. They were interview and observation. To know about the kinds of teaching media and the way the teacher used the teaching media. There were three steps in collecting and analyzing data. First, the English teacher was interviewed by the writer. Second, the writer classified and analyzed the data based on the research problems. Third, the writer draw conclusion from the data that had been analyzed. From the research, it can be concluded that the use of teaching media in teaching and learning process has significant role. They are (1) media have to suitable with young learners,(2) media have suitable with the material given and those three media are recommended to be applied in teaching activities.
