Abstract
In ESP, a content of the textbook used in the teaching learning process becomes a very important thing. Moreover, content is the characteristic of ESP that differentiates from GE (General English). In this study ESP is a program offered by Language-Center, Muhammadiyah university of Malang which is oriented to fulfill the learners’ needs. It was the reason, why the writer was interested in analyzing the ESP textbook ‘English for Tourism 2’, for English Department published by LC-UMM Press. This study was designed to obtain the answer of whether English for Tourism 2 was relevant to the students’ needs. This study used a descriptive method because it was concerned the analysis of the content. The sample of this study was 80 students of second semester English Department and the materials of unit 10 and 17. In order to collect the data, the writer utilized two techniques, there were documentation and questionnaire. The result of this study showed that: 1) In terms of students’ needs relevance, the book was not closely relevant to the students’ needs, the data showed that from the 13 of relevance, only 5 that were relevant to the students’ needs and 8 of them were not relevant.
