This research was based on the phenomenon of one of English courses institution existing in one of village in a little town namely Pare, but this institution may be capable to survive in middle of the mushrooming of the more classed and potential English courses institution in town center. All of those depend on the way to publicize them and a public relations person has a major role in the publication effort if this English course institution. An education institution like this relied on the societal belief elements to the Basic English Course, then, this institution needed to maintain its image to the society. Even it known by the researcher that the image given by the Basic English Course was always be good and able to attract the societal interests to choose this institution to take the English course. The researcher was attracted to research the Public Relations Strategy performed by the Basic English Course in the effort to improve their institution image. Then, it was founded problems by the researcher namely how the strategy of Basic English Course in the effort to improve their institution image. The strategy of public relation is an optimal alternative chosen to reach for achieving the Public Relations goal in the framework of a Public Relations plan (Adnanputra). The public relations strategy is important to design to direct the public opinions that ending on the good image. The strategy of an institution in maintaining image is vary, depend on comprehension and awareness of the institution. In order to be able to answer the problem formulation then the researcher used the qualitative research method. Data were collected by interviews, observations and documentations if needed. Interviews used were the guided one in which the points have been prepared by the researcher. The research informants were selected as many as 6 persons, namely: 1 Owner of the Basic English Course, 1 Head of Administration also held the position as the public relations personel at the Basic English Course, 2 active students, 1 alumnus of the Basic English Course, 1 student guardian. Data obtained were then presented with description and narration. Results of this research regarding the public relations strategy of Basic English Course about their efforts in the term to improve the institution image showed that the strategy used was not the heavy strategy but the light one namely the active and proactive strategy. Because of the public relations strategy understood by the Basic English Course was the effort in order to be always improving their institution image and to maintain this institution image in order that they always goon in the societal eyes. Medias used by this institution were the printing and banner ones. The matters mentioned above have been enough to improve the image of this English educational institution; it was proven by the numbers that always increased of the students prospects who enrolling at the Basic English Course. Upon the results of this research it could be recommended and to be the reference for the BasicEnglish Course in order that they able to be continually improving their image and always keep their institution reputation and the public relations strategy here can be always achieved their purposes and goals.
