Abstract

Media are very important in teaching and learning process.In order to have successful teaching, the teacher usually usesthe teaching media to distribute message of study.The media includes visual media, audio media, audio visual media, and multimedia. In specifically, the teacher uses outline media in teaching learning process.Therefore, two of the criteria to choose media is the support of materials and easy to receive it. The study of this research are aimed to identify the teacher implements the outline media, the difficulties faced by the teacher in using the outline media and the teacherÂ’s ways to overcome the problems in using the outline media in teaching English for the second grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. This study displays descriptive qualitative as the research design. The research data was collected through observation and interview as the instruments. The participant of the study was an English teacher of the second grade students of MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang. The result of the analysis showed that the implementation of media could be done in the following steps: deciding the tittle, make an orientation, squence of events (event 1, 2 and 3) and reorientation. The difficulties faced by the teacher in using this media were the incapability of the students in understanding some difficult vocabularies and grammatical errors. Last, the way the teacher overcame the problems were through explaining the meaning of the difficult vocabularies continuously and motivating the students to be brave to write something in English. Also, the teacher told the students to correct their writing one another in order to get better writing as well.
