Abstract

Mining is basically one of the research and processing activities in the search for potential natural resources, one of which is nickel mining as carried out by PT A, PT B, PT C, and PT D in Sulaho Village, North Kolaka. According to BPS Kolaka Utara data, it is known that as much as 22 thousand tons of nickel were produced in the last eight years (2008-2020). As a result of the mining activities carried out in Sulaho Village, the people of Sulaho Village complained about water pollution. The issues raised in this study are: 1) Analysis of the impact of water pollution due to mining practices in Sulaho Village? 2) What are the government's efforts to fulfill the community's rights to clean water in Sulaho Village? The purpose of this study is to analyze and review directly related to the impact of water pollution arising from mining activities in Sulaho Village and the North Kolaka regional government's efforts to overcome it. The research method used in this study is Juridical-Sociological, namely by direct observation at the research location (Sulaho Village) and direct interview techniques with respondents (Sulaho Village Community). The results of the study showed that PT A, PT B, PT C, and PT D during their operations had reaped problems in the Sulaho Village community, one of which was water pollution, as many as 25 interview informants answered that nickel mining activities in Sulaho Village caused water pollution. While 3 informants answered no. In response to this, the North Kolaka regional government has made direct observations and has coordinated with the company to confirm the existence of water pollution due to the mining activities they are carrying out. And the North Kolaka regional government has not made efforts in accordance with their duties, the North Kolaka regional government should have carried out supervision in accordance with applicable law on the environmental provision statement issued by the environmental agency and the implementation of environmental management efforts and environmental monitoring efforts.
