Abstract

Film is one of literary works to tell stories or help people learn about new ideas. Film is also a media of communication and education which reflects to human life. “Enough” film tells about domestic violence that faced by Slim who is a wife that gets domestic violence from her beloved husband Mitch. In this study, the writer is interested in analyzing Slim’s domestic violence in “Enough” film directed by Michael Apted. The purposes of this study are (1) to identify the kinds of Slim’s domestic violence in Michael Apted’s film “Enough”, (2) to describe why Slim got domestic violence in Michael Apted’s film “Enough”, (3) to elaborate how Slim solves the problems. This study used descriptive qualitative design, the object of this study was “Enough” film and research data were derived from the dialogues and the scenes of the film. Besides, the writer used approach of feminist criticism, it is cultural mind-set in men and women which is perpetuated sexual inequality. Based on the data analysis, it showed that: (1) The kinds of Slim’s domestic violence are physical violence, economic violence, and psychological violence (2) The factor of Slim’s domestic violence is Mitch’s disloyalty (3) The ways of Slim solved the problem are leaving home, changing identity, fighting back, and seeking help.
