Abstract

Errors indicate failure of the studentsÂ’ performance when they are learning English. The failure can be a good tool that the teacher uses to teach the students as the correction for the studentsÂ’ writing progress. This study is about the errors made by 10th graders of Lintas Minat English Program at SMAN 4 Malang. It answered the following research problems: 1) What kind of errors do the 10th graders of Lintas Minat English program at SMAN 4 Malang make in writing recount text? and 2) What are the teacherÂ’s feedbacks towards errors made by 10th graders of Lintas Minat English program at SMAN 4 Malang in writing recount text? The purposes of this study were to identify the kind of errors which the 10th graders of Lintas Minat English program at SMAN 4 Malang make in writing recount text; and to identify the teacherÂ’s feedbacks towards errors made by 10th graders of Lintas Minat English program at SMAN 4 Malang in writing recount text. The researcher found two results in this study. Firstly, it was found that there were four kinds of errors made by the 10th graders of Lintas Minat English program at SMAN 4 Malang in writing recount text. They are: (1) omission errors, (2) addition errors, (3) misformation errors, and (4) misordering errors. Secondly, the researcher has captured that the English teacher gave some feedbacks towards the errors made by the students. The first feedback was giving many examples of recount text to the students. The second feedback was in writing and editing session, the English teacher showed the students their errors and what words to be written. In other word, the feedbacks that were given by the teacher were based on the suggestion of curriculum 2013 in term of teaching and learning procedures that suggest teachers to use scientific approach when implementing curriculum 2013.
