Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the orientation of recruitment strategy of the human resource and the employee performance at PT. Garam Sumenep and investigating the impacts of the orientation on the employee performance at PT. Garam Sumenep. This study employed Simple Scale Range and Linear Regression to analyze the data. It showed a very good orientation of the recruitment strategy of the aforementioned corporation, indicated by the following descriptions: 1) the corporation recruited employees based on their experiences and tested skills; 2) the corporation assigned the employees to the required work formation based on their training and education; 3) the corporation also considered the corporate programs of skill and ability development in assigning to the required work formation. Further, the study revealed the high employee performance at PT. Garam, indicated by the following description: 1) the work volume was well accomplished as the target and responsibility; 2) the targeted works were finished thoroughly as scheduled or even prior to the due date; 3) the employees cooperated well with other employees and the supervisor. Accordingly, it could be suggested that the corporation concern more on the orientation of recruitment strategy by applying recruitment methods such as overtime, subcontracting, temporary employees, and employee leasing.
