Abstract

Entering the stage of adolescence, individuals are confronted with various challenges and developmental tasks. If individuals successfully navigate the adolescent stage, they will exhibit positive behaviors, conversely, negative behaviors may also manifest. In the academic context, adolescents experiencing developmental challenges may display negative learning behaviors, such as neglecting assignments, being passive in their studies, facing the risk of grade retention, and potentially experiencing psychological issues that hinder their learning activities, such as anxiety. Negative learning behaviors are correlated with low scores on the Personal Growth Initiative (PGI), which represents an individual's initiative for personal development. The aim of this research is to examine the impact of counseling with a religiosity approach on enhancing PGI in adolescents. In this study, the participants are three high school students. Religiosity, as interpreted in their daily lives, enables individuals to find more meaningful life interpretations and effectively cope with their problems. The research employs a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, utilizing a one-group quasi-experimental research design. The quantitative results indicate a lack of significant change, while the qualitative findings show changes in PGI behavior, with each subject demonstrating unique self-management behaviors tailored to their developmental goals.
