Abstract

The use of new renewable energy is increasingly being carried out, one of which is the use of water energy as the main energy source in Micro Hydro Power Plants (MHPP). One of the potential waters that can be utilized for MHPP is the Ubalan irrigation flow in Pamotan Village, Dampit District, Malang Regency. Umbulan MHPP planning includes planning civil components and mechanical components which is limited t o selecting the type of turbine, determining turbine dimensions and selecting generators. The survey results show that the discharge potential that can be utilized is 1,34 m3/s and the effective falling height is 2,72 m. By utilizing a discharge of 1 m3/s, a suitable turbine is obtained, which is a propeller turbine, a reaction type turbine. The electrical power that can be generated is 20,39 kW. In the PLTMH planning, it is planned: 1) Weir with a width of 3 m and a height of 2,57 m from the bottom of the upstream channel. 2) Forebay capacity 28 m3, 3) Steel penstock with an inner diameter of 0.7 m, 4) Power house with an area of 10,8 m2, 5) Draft tube with outlet size of 1,58×0,65 m2, 6) Runner turbine (D1) with a diameter of 30 mm with a specific speed (Nq) of 236,26.
