Abstract

The research aimed to find out the influence of giberelin (GA3) treatment to dormancy and germination in three apple varieties. Research hypothesis was considered there was interaction among giberelin (GA3) concentration with varieties in dormancy and germination. There suspected the differences among varieties gave influence to dormancy and germination. The research was done in laboratorium of Faculty of Farming University of Muhammadiyah Malang, located in Tegal Gondo village with 550 m above sea height. The research used group random design arranged in factorial with two factors and three repeatment. All factors consisted of 3 level. First factor (V) were varieties consisted of Manalagi, Rome beauty, Anna. Second factor was giberelin (G) concentrate consisted of 0 ppm, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm concentrates. Research was done through two phases, dormancy breaking and germination, observation in dormancy breaking was done each day until the seed broken, while germination observation interval was done every 7 days started after dormancy breaking. Parameter observed consisted of moment of dormancy breaking, hypocotyle length, epycotile length, germination percentage, death germination percentage, death seed percentage, viability percentage of dorman seed, total vigor dormancy, germination delaying, germination value, average peak value, average daily germination. The result were interaction didn’t different for all observation, except in dormancy breaking, concentrate combination of giberelin 1000 ppm at Rome Beauty showed that the fastest dormancy breaking moment was 40 days. giberelin concentrate treatment raised hypocotyle length at 7, 14, 21, days after dormancy breaking and epycotyl length in 28 days after dormancy breaking. Giberelin concentrate 500 ppm till 1000 ppm could raise hypocotyle length for 1,73 cm to 5,07 cm, and epycotyle length 3,49 cm in giberelin concentrate 1000 ppm. Variety treatment increased hypocotyle length in 14 days age after dormancy for 3,06 cm, while Rome Beauty variety and Anna has longer epycotyle longer than Manalagi variety.
