Social meaning is a set of insights, feelings, attitudes, and actions resulting from the tendency of an idea, something that would be meaningful when one considers that object, either in the form of a symbol or shape cues of others. Market shopping distinctive monument has become a symbol for traders, market shopping memorial held 1 week. The traders believe that the market shopping this monument is someone land their sustenance. The merchants were always obliging themselves to trade there, though sometimes sparsely attended tourist market but traders love the tourist market and even then keep them loyal to trade there. To see the significance of market shopping this poor city monument, researchers formulate the problem of how to market social meanings of town shopping memorial unfortunate for merchants. In this study, using a type of qualitative research deskripstif, location in the area of market shopping town monument along the road semeru poor unfortunate city. The research subject is the traders who joined officially in IPWBT (Tourism Shopping Monument Merchants Association) and administrators ties with the purposive sampling technique of sampling. Data collection technique is to use observation, interviews and dokumentasi.Teori used is symbolic interactionism theory Herbert Blummer. In the theory of symbolic interactionism Herbert Blummer that rests on the premise that the three first premise that man was acting on the "meaning". The second premise states that the understanding, views and experiences of the informants can be the result of interaction with other traders both old and merchant traders who just sell there, so that affects the meaning of their societies and through the interpretations they perform an action. The third premise states that through a process of interaction can enhance the understanding, views and experience possessed by informants on the market shopping unfortunate monument.
