Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of mangrove vegetation on the island of hair. The study was conducted in mid-January 2012 until the end of January 2012 and is located in Island Wildlife Hair, Cluster Thousand Islands, Jakarta. The method used in the measurement and observation of mangrove vegetation transect method / single track line checkered sized plots for trees located within the plot. In plots with size (20x20) m2 for tree level, then made a smaller plot size (10x10) m2 for small trees, while the plot size (5x5) m2 for level stakes level data collected at stake and the plot size (2x2) m2 for Seedlings were collected at a data rate of seedlings. From the results of research conducted on the island of hair found 13 species of plants from nine families from different plots in 8 lines. In the area, the type that dominates namely Rhizophora mucronata and Rhizophora Stylosa LMK Griff. Vegetation types that have the highest IVI tree level is Rhizophora mucronata CML with value 95.05%, to the level that is of a kind Ceriops pole tagal (Perr) CB Rob with a value of 82.67%, to the level that is of a kind Pemphis stake Acidula (Forst) with a value of 113.67% and for Seedlings are of type Pemphis Acidula (Forst) with a value of 158.5%. In general zonation pattern of mangrove forest looks Island neighborhood Hair, South Thousand Islands as follows: zone close to the sea, from the type Sonneratia Alba, Brugueira gymnorrhiza (L) Lamk. Middle Zone Rhizophora Stylosa Griff, Rhizophora mucronata LMK, Rhizophora Apiucalata BI, Ceriops tagal (Perr) CB Rob, Pemphis Acidula (Forst), Pongamia Pinata Merr. Zone near the shore of a kind Excocearia Agallocha L, Lumnitcera racemosa Willd.var.r, Xylocarpus moluccensis (Lamk) M.Roem, Heriteria littoralis Dryand Ex. W Ait. In the mangrove forests in the area are mostly hair island species rarely found elsewhere but with a small amount and the number of ecosystem destruction caused by people around the island as well as the looting of animal hair such as migratory birds and sea bass in the swamp part of the island hair, and lack of planting mangroves on the edge to keep the waves from damaging the ecosystem on the island as well as dependence hair "Water Break" made permanent but short-lived and easily damaged. It is recommended that further research be done on the existing mangrove vegetation Hair Island, Thousand Islands, South Jakarta, cultivation of mangroves along the coast.
