Abstract

The difficulty is a condition characterized by the presence of obstacles in the activities to achieve the objectives so as to be able to handle it requires effort. The difficulty experienced by students would allow for errors when answering test questions. The difficulty of student in solving mathematical problems on research conducted Yeo (2004) include difficulty in understanding a given problem, trouble making sentences math, difficulty determining the appropriate completion strategy, and difficulty performing mathematical procedures are correct. System of linear equations of two variables are two linear equations of two variables that have a settlement and systems of linear inequalities of two variables is a combination of two two-variable linear inequality. This study aims to gain an idea of the difficulty of class X students in solving mathematical problems on material equations and systems of linear inequalities of two variables in SMA Negeri 1 Purwosari. The method used in this study is qualitative. Based on the results of the analysis found that students have difficulties in understanding a given problem when students do not write and explain the unknown and of the questions asked, students have difficulty in making mathematical sentences when the student does not make appropriate mathematical models with matter and did not even make mathematical models, students have difficulty in determining the exact completion strategy when students are not using proper completion strategy and there are some students who make their own exit strategy, and students have difficulty in doing the right mathematical procedures when students make mistakes in calculations and not make conclusions based on questions on the matter.
