Abstract

Model of Aptitude Treatment Interaction in mathematics learning is the effective learning used by individual based on their ability. In that model, students are divided into group of students which has high ability, intermediate, and low. Each group gets the same treatment appropriate with students characteristic. The effectiveness of Aptitude Treatment Interaction model in mathematics learning for VIII class at SMP Negeri 18 Malang has the purposes to: (1) Describe the use of Aptitude Treatment Interaction model, (2) Describe the effectiveness of Aptitude Treatment Interaction model. Descriptive research is used in this research. The subject is students of VIII-A at SMP Negeri 18 Malang. The data gets by the observation sheet of teacher and students activity, questionnaire, and score test (test of students ability, pre-test, post-test, and competition test). Mathematics learning by using Aptitude Treatment Interaction model was done in fourth meeting. The results of this research find that the Application the model of Aptitude Treatment Interaction is good. Besides, the models of Aptitude Treatment Interaction increase students motivation in learning process. As a proof it is seen by the result of students motivation and students interest after the use of Aptitude Treatment Interaction model. Meanwhile, result of students achievement in learning process shown that the use of Aptitude Treatment Interaction model is effective used by students in mathematics learning process because the number of students which is complete their study that is 82,05% (32 students).
