Abstract

Mathematic’s learning still tend to be conventional with one-way communication that ignores the social nature of learning mathematics. Similarly happens in SMP Negeri 2 Beji, students tend to be quiet, less brave in argue or respond to an opinion, even afraid to ask though do not understand. Therefore, teachers should use appropriate learning strategies and create an active and efficient learning conditions. The learning strategies are expected to give the oppo unity for students to express their idea optimally through oral or written so their skills of mathematics communication increased. Based on the research, the researcher The Implementation of Cooperative Learning Strategies in Think-Talk-Write (TTW) Type Toward The ability of Mathematics Communication at Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Beji Pasuruan. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, with the type of research used is descriptive research that trying to describe a phenomenon, incident, events that occurred currently (Asmani, 2011). The results of this study indicate that learning by implementing cooperative learning strategies Think - Talk - Write ( TTW ) toward the ability of mathematics communication of students in the algebraic operations show that the learning process done well which viewed from the observation sheet of learning activities. The ability of student’s oral mathematics communication based on observations with 3 indicators. The first indicator obtained an overall average of 80.05 %, the second indicator obtained an overall average of 68.58 % and the third indicator obtained an overall average of 65.38 %. While the ability of student’s written mathematics communication based on tests with 4 indicators. The first indicator obtained an overall average 67,55%, the second indicator is obtained overall average 76,44% , the third indicator is obtained overall average 63,77% and the fourth indicators obtained overall average 80,08%, it show that the student’s mathematics communication is quite good. Cooperative learning strategies Think-Talk-Write (TTW) type can be cultivate the ability of students' mathematics communication. For further research, learning strategies can be used to determine the ability of other aspects such as problem solving, reasoning, concept of development and the others with a different subject.
