Abstract

The condition of students exercise sheets (LKS) which recently exist and are used in schools are LKS which emphasize on the formula without explaining the procedures how the formula comes. This research aims at creating LKS which is developed by using directed-discovery method to determine the formula of the area and also volume of cube and also identifying the validity, practice, and effectiveness of the LKS which is developed. The content of this LKS explains the procedures to find the formula of the area and volume of a cube. The LKS is developed based on the steps of development model namely 4-D which are define, design, develop, and disseminate. However, in this research, the development is only done until “develop” step. The LKS is also validated to ensure it is valid to be used. Observer gives the evaluation about the LKS and students and teacher also give their responses to check whether it is practice. Furthermore, comprehension test is done based on the percentage of students who pass the KKM after having learning process by using the LKS which uses directed-discovery method. The research was done at SMPN 1 Gondangwetan, Pasuruan. Based on the result of LKS validation process, it shows that the average score of the materials validation toward its quality is 3,06 and the appropriateness of the LKS with the directed-discovery method is 3,00. Moreover, the average score of the appropriateness between learning materials and didactic aspect is 3,25, the construction aspect is 3,09, and technical aspect is 3,10. In addition, based on the implementation aspect, it achieves the average score of 93,75%. It achieve also 100% for usage aspects, and its accessibility achieves the score 75%. Students also give their responses that it achieves 86,15% for the language which is used, 91,25% for the layout, and 88,91 for the condition. From the teacher’s response, it has the the percentage 92,25% for the layout, 86,00% for the language, and 93,75% for the materials relevancy. At the end, there are 92,5% students who pass the KKM from the comprehension test.
