Abstract

Many students got difficult when they faced story questions. Most of them got difficult in interpreting meaning of the question and felt confused to answer the questions. Therefore it is need a learning model that can give basic comprehension students toward story question and is able to construct the students way of thinking toward steps in solving story question, such as CIRC model wich can solve the problem. The purpose of this research are to describe (1) implementation of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model. (2) Teacher’s and students’ activities in Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model. (3) Students’ learning result in using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model. This research was conducted in MTs Negeri Batu which is located in Junrejo district, Batu by using class VII C as the subject of the study. The class consists of 37 students and divided into 21 girls and 16 boys. The instruments in this research are lesson plan, test (pre and post test) and observation sheet. Based on the data got from implementing CIRC model and observation, the result will be explained as follow. The result of the research showed that (1) implementing CIRC learning model suits to the planned syntax's that are introduction, creating groups, discussion, presentation of discussion results, reflection, and the last is closing stage; (2) students’ activity in second meeting reached 86,4% (very good) while in the third meeting reached 90,8% (very good) so that they got average point 88,6% (very good); (3) teacher’s activity in second meeting reached 95,37% (very good) and in the third meeting it reached 98,14% (very good) so that he got average point 96,75% (very good); (4) in pretest, 24,3% students passed and 75,6% did not with ≥75 minimum pass standard. Post test result showed 91, 9% passed and 8, 1% did not
