Abstract

This research aims to analyze the study of mathematics by using spontaneous discussion group (SGD) method evaluated from readiness and learning result of junior high school student, grade VIII. The subject of this research is 24 students of junior high school students of Aisyiyah Boarding School Malang. This research is application research of cooperative learning which is done by collaborative between mathematics teacher and researcher. There are six indicators of trouble shooting ability which is measured, that is: 1) identifying topic and arrange the students into group 2) planning duty be studied 3) finishing problem 4) preparing for final report 5) presenting final report, and 6) evaluation. The data of this research is obtained from the student observation, teacher observation and test. The result of the research obtained that: 1) before doing the study by using SGD method, the students is given early test ability to know the students readiness, the material related to the study 2) dividing group randomly, the students do group discussion to finish the problem in the form of student spread sheet (LKS), students prepare final report which have been expostulated in group, election the group presentation randomly. Then, the students present the result of group discussion 3) the analysis of student’s mathematics trouble-shooting ability can be seen from the result of the final test. The early percentage of mathematics trouble-shooting ability test is 72,92 % with good category. The mean final test percentage of one student for finishing the problem is 70 %, while the final test for two student is 78,75 %. There is upgrading with good category. The percentage of teacher observer activity is 72,84 % becoming 78,02 %, for the student observer activity is 71,86 % becoming 80,46 %.
