Rini, Ariati Dwi Prasetya. 2014. The Implementing of STAD Cooperative Learning Model in Developing Character Value on the Subject of Root Form at SMAN 9 Malang. Thesis. Mathematics Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Advisor: (I) Akhsanul In'am, Ph.D, (II) Drs. Hendarto Cahyono, M.Si Based on the observation by research in class X Language SMA Negeri 9 Malang when learning activities were ini group the students were less participate in group activities, the students tend to work independently when completing assignment and te accuracy of the students when writing down the answers is relatively low. Hence, the researcher is encouraged to conduct research in that class. The purposes of this study in implementing cooperative learning model STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions) in developing character values on the subject of root forms at SMA Negeri 9 Malang are to describe: (1) the activity in teaching learning of the teacher, (2) student learning activities, (3) the value of the students' character and (4) student achievement. This study uses descriptive research with qualitative and quantitative approaches. The data sources of this study are students learning activities and students’ results test from 27 students of class X Language in SMA Negeri 9 Malang, the teacher's activities from the observation in the class and taken the data in some interviews from several students of class X Language SMA Negeri 9 Malang randomly. The result of the study shows that the overall average percentage of teachers in implementing STAD cooperative learning model reaches 80.73% with good categories. The students' learning activities are measured from 4 students’ activities such as visual activities, oral activities, writing activities and listening activities students performed by the students properly. Whereas the students’ cooperation in-group discussions showed that some students less active in-group discussions and solve the problems individually so, the students’ activity did not always increase in each meeting. Final test results of implementation STAD cooperative learning model in class X Language in incomplete criteria or under specified standards KKM. While the carefulness character assessment of students based on the results of the quiz in the end of the meeting showed that in three groups one student less careful, six students quite careful and four students conscientious careful.
