Abstract

Learning and teaching are the fundamental aspect in education world. As a matter of fact, learning and teaching process in mathematics subject tends to be abstract and less of a various method. Those reasons can improve the amount of boredom among the students and diminish student’s motivation, so the teacher has to be smart to select an appropriate teaching method for student’s development in learning process of mathematics. In order to reach an active, enjoyable and not bored of learning process, “reciprocal teaching” models should be applied. This research aims to investigate the implementation of “reciprocal teaching” method in mathematic subject on rectangular and square materials and know the result of student’s learning. The approach that has been used is descriptive qualitative approach. This research conducted on 7th May 2013 up to 17 May 2013 and the subject of this research is the students of second grade (VII-B) in MTs Muhammadiyah 01 Malang. In order to describe the process, the researcher observes the activity of teacher and students in a group and gives a test to know the student’s result. The result shows that: (1) the implementation of “reciprocal teaching” models gives an innovation for improving the student’s quality of learning process, (2) the result of observation shows that the activity of teacher and students in a group improve the quality of learning process in every meeting, the teacher enhances an excellent teaching process and the students enhance a good learning process, (3) the result of analysis shows that pre-test result is 8 students passed the test and 12 students didn’t pass the test, and the post-test result is 15 passed the test and 5 students didn’t pass the result.
