Abstract

Character education is one of the government's efforts to improve the moral condition of the young generation of the Indonesian nation, in a way to implement character education at every level of education. This study aims to determine the process of learning mathematics preparation or planning, process implementation and evaluation of learning mathematics learning of mathematics in MA 01 Ma’arif Batu. This research is qualitative research. The research was carried out within 2 weeks from January 23 to February 2, 2013 in class XI IPS MA 01 MaÂ’arif Batu. The method used in this study is the observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. From the research that has been done can be concluded that the planning stage of this study include the preparation of silabus and RPP. Silabus and RPP is the development of the silabus and previous RPP. Development includes the addition of the values of the characters on the learning objectives and steps of learning activities. During the implementation phase is done through the learning process has not been going well because not all of which have been planned in the RPP can be accomplished in the learning process. Evaluation stage through cognitive and affective aspects. On the cognitive aspects of teacher assess students' knowledge with the results of the written test. While on the affective aspects of teachers conduct regular observations began early last meeting to meeting, from these observations it is known character development of students. In addition, from the results of student questionnaire responses to learning that has been done, it is known that the response of students towards learning has been done has been pretty good. However motivate students to read textbooks are lacking because only 58% of students who read textbooks before learning begins. In addition only 43% of students who understand the material being taught. It is caused by a crowded classroom conditions that interfere with other students' concentration.
