## Abstract

Most students think that mathematics is a difficult subject, because of the assumption that the students find it difficult to learn mathematics. By the time students are faced with a math problem, they find it difficult to understand and resolve the issue. Peraan teachers and students during the learning process can assist students in understanding the subject matter. Given the importance of learning strategies to help students understand mathematical concepts, measures are needed that can facilitate comprehension and math problem solving. Learning with active learning environment and provide strategies in understanding concepts can be applied to learning models Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP). The purpose of this study was to determine which is more effective the learning models Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) activity against teacher, student activities, and the subject matter of mathematics achievement system of linear equations in two variables class VIII SMP 7 Blitar. The research sample was taken using random sampling techniques with consideration of the students receive the same curriculum-based materials, students are taught by the same teacher, who becomes the object of research students sitting in class VIII. Selected sample of two classes, namely class VIIIB as the control group and the experimental group VIIIC class. Based on two-sample T test, t = 2.095 turns> table = 2.00. On significance level of 5%, so that H0 is rejected, this means learning achievement of students with learning MMP is more effective than learning Expository. Based on the observations made by 2 observers teacher activity using MMP learning is better than learning activities with teachers ekpositori, with an average percentage of teachers MMP activity reached 81.25% with both categories of teachers ekpositori activity while the average percentage reached 75.93% . Student activities that occur during the learning process by using learning MMP reached 88.40%, which can be categorized in the excellent category, while the percentage of student activity expositor average of 80.07% in both categories. The conclusions in this study was the pretest score on MMP learning is more effective than learning Expository, indicated by the value of the test capability of understanding the concept better. Activities of teachers and students in learning better MMP better than learning expositor, shown with an average percentage value. So it can be said that learning Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) is more effective than learning in the subject matter SPLDV expositor in class VIII SMP 7 Blitar. Recommended to teachers to choose materials that fit if you want to apply the learning model MMP.
