Abstract

Teachers as main components that determine the success of the learning activities are required to be able to choose and use the right learning model in delivering materials or lesson. As long as this is still a classical learning, where teachers explain the material, then students are given examples of questions and practice questions. For it was in need of a learning method that is able to call upon students play an active role, linking the material that he had learned with real-world lives of students. As for the purpose of this study was to describe the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) with Hands on technique of the Mathematics subject matter on the tube in an effort to increase learning outcomes grade IX Junior High School Muhammadiyah Malang 6 Lesson year 2012/2013. This type of research this is a class action Research (PTK). This research was carried out by using a qualitative approach. This research was conducted with the subject of this research is the grade IX Junior High School Muhammadiyah as many as 12 Indonesia language students and teachers. This research Data obtained by the technique of documentation, observation, finally student test. This research is collaborative in the sense of this research aided by field of study teacher of mathematics consists of two cycles and each cycle consists of 5 stages, namely; action planning, implementation, observation, evaluation, and reflection. Based on the results of the implementation of action learning technique with hands on cycle I that students connect the content with the life of the real world and tinkering with an object resembling a tube. In cycle II, held to rectify the shortcomings of the cycle I, ask students to concentrate more in accordance with the scenario of mutual learning and cooperation so that the hands on activities can be done according to the time allowed.. From the application of research results obtained in class learning that students experienced significant improvement of cycle I to II. The results showed an increase in classical completeness, where in CTL the first cycle were obtained for classical completeness and 66.6% in the second cycle classical completeness gained 91.66%. As for the student activity score in the first cycle is 10.505 with moderately active category and the second cycle increased to 17.335 with the active category. So it can be concluded, with the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) with hands on engineering mathematics at the tube material can improve student learning outcomes IX Junior High School Muhammadiyah Malang 6 Lesson year 2012/2013.
