## Abstract

The Material of cube and block at junior high school in the VIII class is one of the subject materials of mathematics to be used in the National Exam. Cubes and blocks material is one matter that requires students to know the true concept of requiring a fairly high power of thinking. In the material of cubes and blocks, students are required to find the correct answer from steps such as; identifying the problems, write down the formula, solve the problems and making conclusions. So it needs a suitable model to optimality students in learning process. That model is Snowball Throwing. Snowball Throwing can helps students easily to understand the material of mathematics. This study aims to describe activities of students, the response of students, and the thoroughness of student learning outcomes. The approach that is used in this study is a qualitative approach, whereas the type of research is descriptive. The study was conducted on May 15 to May 22, 2012 in VIII-A class. Total of students at SMPN 1 Pangarengan Sampang are 31 students. Based on the analysis of student’s activities in learning process by using Snowball Throwing model, the result is good enough. The implementation of that model is done for three meetings. It can be seen from the percentage of student’s activity is 58.75%. The responses of students in the application of Snowball Throwing model is 81%. Student learning outcomes obtained after the application of Snowball throwing model are 24 students that achieved completeness of individual learning, while 7 students did not complete their study. So it can be concluded that the result of study the students have achieved the standard of completeness in classical the result of classical learning has reached a specified standard of completeness in classical SMPN 1 Pangarengan Sampang. It is reinforced by many students who are thoroughly studied in the classical 77.41%.
