Abstract

The Joint Lecture Building and FISIP Laboratory of the National Development University "Veteran" East Java is a 12-story building with a dual earthquake-resistant system in the form of a moment-resisting frame and shear walls. The asymmetrical placement of shear walls in this building could potentially cause twisting moments due to the relatively large eccentricity of the building. To avoid large eccentricities, buildings can be planned with symmetrical placement of shear walls to obtain smaller building eccentricities. Planning will refer to SNI 2847-2019 concerning structural concrete requirements for buildings and SNI 1726-2019 concerning procedures for earthquake resistance planning for building and non-building structures. The building is planned to use beams with dimensions 25/50 and 30/55, main beams with dimensions 30/60 and 35/70, columns with dimensions 75/95, floor plates with a thickness of 120 mm, roof plates with a thickness of 100 mm and shear walls with a thickness of 250 mmm. Based on this plan, the largest plastic deviation between floors is 37.88 mm, which is smaller than the permit deviation of 42 mm. Apart from that, the use of shear walls placed symmetrically in buildings has been proven to provide smaller eccentricity values compared to existing buildings.
