Abstract

Diagnosis and classification of leukemia is made based on clinical examination and laboratory. Laboratory approach by combining various methods and modern analytical techniques, among others sitomorfologi, histochemistry, immunophenotyping and genotyping or molecular genetic analyzes. Classification of acute leukemia by France American British (FAB) criteria and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), are grouped into four types, namely ALL, AML, CML, and CLL but there are only ALL, AML and CML that usual happened in Indonesia. Diagnosis and classification of leukemia in hospital is still using a very simple method, based on cell morphology of peripheral blood smear and bone marrow using Romanowsky staining (Wringht-Giemsa), this method has weakness and limitations, sometimes difficult to distinguish between ALL and AML type, subjectivity in interpretation , there is possibility of misdiagnosis. Of the limitations and drawbacks, researchers aim to design and create software or systems to assist in the classification of leukemia by using FUZZY C-MEANS (FCM), which is expected this systems can help clinicians predict the picture of pattern through calculation that will be used to distinguish the type of leukemia. This decision support system using nine input hemoglobin (Hb), white blood cell (WBC), platelet, eosinophil, basophil, stab, segmen, lymphosit and monocytes. Sample data from medical records from 2005 to 2008. The results obtained data are not homogeneuos and subjective assesment depending on physician speciality (clinical pathology). The conclusion shows the results of the calculation are heterogeneous and do not find a definite standard.
