Abstract

One alternative connective material that can be used to reduce use portland cement is fly ash. Fly ash is a by product of burning coal or the rest of the industry steam power plant which use coal as a fuel, in the form of fine grains light, round, not porous and are pozzolanik. The present study will be to make improvements to the pozzolan materials to perform the synthesis of silica by examining changes in the nature and reactivity of the pozzolan materials. (Use the type - F fly ash from coal combustion waste at the plant Tanjung Jati Jepara). The purpose of this study was to determine how efforts to repair the physical and chemical properties of fly ash as a partial cement replacement material in split tension strength and shear concrete and concrete results that compare the use of fly ash and fly ash conventional treatment. In this study the addition of fly ash incorporated variations as a partial replacement of cement. The variation in the composition or the addition of fly ash as a partial replacement of cement by 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% by weight of cement. The test results of fly ash as a partial replacement of cement in the concrete age of 28 days on the concrete shear test achieving optimum value at 20% of variation in the amount of 9.64 MPa on concrete treatment and at 8.90 MPa in conventional concrete, while the concrete tension test reaches optimum value at 20% of variation in the amount of 2.67 MPa and 2.52 for conventional concrete. Treatment of fly ash (fly ash reflux) can increase the shear and tension strength of the concrete.
