Abstract

Technology of materials and techniques to develop environmentally friendly concrete is very varied in order to meet the demands of higher cement production . Research on the addition of fly ash in concrete is normally aimed to determine the percentage of variation of the addition of fly ash in concrete , as well as knowing the value of absorption and permeability in concrete . One way is to replace a portion of cement with coal combustion power plant or commonly known as fly ash. Efforts to improve the pozzolan materials to perform the synthesis of silica by examining changes in the nature and reactivity of the pozzolan materials. So that can be used in this study included the addition of fly ash as a variation of partial replacement of cement. The composition or the addition of fly ash variation of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% of the cement weight. To test the strength of cylindrical specimen absorbs of 30 x 15 cm and permeability betondengan specimen 20 x 20 x 12 cm specimen 60 pieces. The results of the absorption test was carried out of the use of fly ash and fly ash treatment can reduce the value of conventional absorption even have the same absorption value at 20 % variation of fly ash in concrete by 0.51 % rise in the value of the absorption of concrete at 45.16 %. penetration permeability values at 20 % variation of fly ash in concrete by 2.33 cm increase in penetration value of 63.71 %. conventional use of fly ash greater penetration of 2.41 cm with a variation of 20 % on an increase of 62.46%. This fly ash as a partial substitute for cement has properties of adhesiveness between aggregate grains better because the elements are more reactive amorphous silica as well as to minimize the pores of the concrete itself and the absorption of water is highly dependent on the pore filler aggregate.
