Abstract

One alternative connective material that can be used to reduce with portland cement is fly ash. Fly ash is a byproduct of burning coal or the rest of the industry steam power plant ( power plant) which use coal as a fuel, in the form of fine grains light, round, not porous and are pozzolanik. This study was to determine the effect of treatment of fly ash as a partial replacement of cement in compressive strength of mortar and concrete. In this study the addition of fly ash incorporated variations as a partial replacement of cement. The variation in the composition or the addition of fly ash that is 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% of the cement weight. Used F-type fly ash from the power plant TanjungJatiB ,Jepara. The number of test specimens in this study were 60 test specimens. 30 specimen press mortar and concrete compressive test specimen 30. Tests conducted at the Lab. Concrete Civil Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The test results of fly ash as a partial replacement of cement in the concrete age of 28 days on test press mortar with fly ash treatment and the use of fly ash as a partial replacement of conventional cement reaches the optimum value with the same results on the variation of 20 % is equal to 17.3 MPa. While on the test results of concrete testing achieve optimum value at 20 % of variation in the amount of 27.92 MPa concrete with the use of fly ash as cementitious and treatment for 25.95 MPa concrete with fly ash use conventional as well as increased strength cementitious at 7.6%, this is due fly ash treatment process has the ability to experience adhesiveness aggregate better because the elements are more reactive silica.
