Abstract

This research aims to obtain information about the correlation of character growth and yield potential of Jatropha mutants on land category. This research was conducted at experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture – Animal Husbandry, University of Muhammadiyah Malang 400-450 meters above sea level, in the District Karangploso from December 2011 until April 2012, with statistical methods of correlation analysis were categorized into three category is category above land, category of middle land, and category of land below. Plant material used is a mutant of physic nut in previous research. Observations conducted after the crop was 17 to 21 months after planting, with an interval of one month observation. The observed parameters plant height, stem diameters, total leaf number of plants, number of primary branches, number of bunches of flowers, number of fruits, number of fruits harvested, dried seed number and seed dry weight. This research shows the correlation between growth and yield potential character of the mutant plant jatropha of category above land, middle and below generally show a positive correlation of different properties, except the correlation of high character to the diameter stem with correlations ranging from 0.75** to 0, 99 ** the total number of leaves of plants correlated with the number of primary ranches with a correlation value 0.18 ns to 0.25 ns, and the number of dry seeds weight range correlations up to 0.65 ** 0.99 ** showed similar correlations. The correlation between the growth of the characters show increase height with a trunk diameter can increase the value of the correlation ranged up to 0.65 ** 0.53 **, where the character of the diameter to increase the total number of leaves with correlation values up to 0.43 * 0.40 ** *, but the increase in the number of primary branches can not increase the growth of the other characters. Correlation of character with growth and yield potential character results showed height correlates to the number of bunches of flowers with a range correlations up to 0.49 ** 0.55 **, but the characters diameter showed a positive correlation is not significant. The character of the total number of leaves of plants showed highly significant positive correlation to the number of bunches of flowers to the value of the correlation to 0.66 ** 0.74 ** and the number of primary branches are generally showed a negative correlation is not significant. Correlation potential character results generally show that fellow character positively correlated yield potential, where the number of bunches of flowers in general the number of of fruit, number of fruit crops, seed number and dry weight with correlation values range up 0.39 ** to 0.56 **, while increase in the number of fruit can increase the number of fruit crops, seed number and dry weight with correlation values range up to 0.52 ** 0.97 **, and just as with any other character of the yield potential are positively correlated with each other is very significant and not significant.
