Abstract

People’s live can not been far away from waste which can be harmful for the surrounding circumstances. Hence, waste need be recycled by composting process. Purpose of the experiment to assess the effect of composting waste by type and material composition with different doses of bioactivator for pakcoy mustard. The study was conducted at Green House of FPP UMM with a height of ± 550 m above sea level from October 2011 until January 2012. The method using a factorial design arranged in randomized block design with 3 factors ie Material Type (J), Composition Material (K), and Bioactivator Doses (U). Each of these factors consists of three levels are combined become 27 variations and repeated 3 times with 5 samples. Observations began at 7 after planting of pakcoy mustard, with intervals of 7 days with 5 plant samples. Observations include the number of leaves (blade) and the leaf area (cm2), fresh weight (g) and dry weight (g). Data indicate significant interaction between type and material composition with doses of bioactivator at all of variables. Data of pakcoy mustard shows that the composition of 65%: 30%: 5% is the best composition. At 0.5 ml/kg of bioactivator doses, the addition 5% rice bran is the best treatment, at 1 ml/kg of it, the addition 5% sawdust is the best, and at 1.25 ml/kg, compost with 5% rice bran and sawdust is content much N, P, K, so resulting the best growth of pakcoy mustard. Data of compost indicate 65% green waste + 30% goat manure + 5% rice bran and sawdust with 1.25 ml/kg of bioactivator doses is the best treatment. Data of pakcoy mustard shows that 65% : 30% : 5% is the best composition with material at 0.5 ml/kg of bioactivator doses is rice bran, at 1 ml/kg is sawdust, and at 1.25 ml/kg is rice bran and sawdust.
