Abstract

This research examines the utilization of food additives that surpass the threshold or BTP, which is prohibited by the government. The objective of this research is to assess the supervision and initiatives carried out by the Malang City Health Service regarding home-based food industries that contain BTP in excess of the threshold limit. Empirical research utilizing Primary Data (interviews) and Secondary Data is employed as the methodology for this study. The findings reveal that in 2022, a total of 11 PIRT products were discovered to be non-compliant with the established requirements in Malang City. These product samples were acquired through random purchases of PIRT products available in the market. The main factors contributing to the misuse of BTP by PIRT producers are limited knowledge and economic considerations. The Malang City Health Service provides educational programs for PIRT producers who have violated the usage of BTP with the hope that these producers will comply with the appropriate utilization of BTP in their products in the future.
