Abstract

Peer acceptance is required in childhood because it began hanging out with peers with others outside the family, such as father, mother and close family. Children who gain peer acceptance of children will find it valuable, and meaningful and needed by the group that creates a feeling of happy, excited and happy, which in turn raises the courage and joy for the initiative. While children who do not obtain peer acceptance would feel sad, dissatisfied, frustrated and eventually will feel lonely. If the sense of loneliness was allowed to drag on the child will become depressed and will also affect the learning process in children. The purpose of this study to determine peer acceptance relationship with a sense of loneliness in children. This research is a quantitative correlation. The sample in this study were students of SDN Pecan I Pacet who sit in class V and VI. The total sample used by 62 students. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the characteristic age of 10-13 years, school age children during the high class of the class V and VI, elementary school students. The instrument used to retrieve data is by using a scale that is the loneliness scale, amounting to 35 items and sociometry for peer acceptance. Data analysis technique using product moment correlation test, with the help of SPSS version 10.00 for windows. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between the acceptance of peers with a sense of loneliness (r = -0.316 p = 0.012) which means the higher the acceptance of peers, the sense of loneliness in children where the lower the effective contribution of peer acceptance of loneliness 10% while 90% are caused by other factors.
