Independence is something that is important in order to deliver a child into adulthood so that he can declare himself as a social man in the relationship with the group interaction. The family is the first social group in her life as a man, old dimanaorang a dominant role in forming child's independence. In an intact family problems of forming self-reliance becomes not how, because they still consist of 2 parents (father and mother). In families that are no longer intact, independent demands are enormous. Living with one parent is a very heavy burden, because of the limitations of parents in supervising and guiding indirectly make children more independent. But in fact today the role of parents in providing opportunities for self-study is not fully there, especially the mothers. In contrast to the attitude of fathers who tend to provide independent learning at an early age. The study aims to determine whether there are differences in child's independence from single-parent families and children from the family's father who is a single-parent mothers. Research hypothesis is that there are differences in the independence of children from families with the status of single-parent family who is a father and mother's parents, where children from families with the status of single parent fathers tend to have higher self-reliance than children from families with the status of single parent mothers. The variables in this study consisted of 2 variables. The independent variable: the family single-parent status, and dependent variable: self-reliance. The population in this study is the status of children from single-father families, and children from single-mother family status, which overall amounted to 30 people. 15 children from single-father family status and family status of 15 of single mothers aged 9-13 years, with a total sampling technique sampling. Data obtained by distributing a scale that is independent of scale by analyzing the validity of the instrument by using the formula of Pearson product moment. While the reliability test using alpha formula. As used in data analysis techniques T.tes test. From the analysis of T-test showed that there are differences in the independence of children from families with the status of single-parent fathers and children from single-parent family status of the mother, with a value of t = 3144 and p = 0.004, where the status of children from single-father families have independence of the higher (: 103.40) than children from families with the status of single-parent mother. (: 90.00).
