Dealing with this study, the writer used objective approach because it focuses on the literary work itself, without relating to the author’s life, background of society, or background of the work. The result of this study shows that the kinds of psychological conflicts faced by the main character in the “Palomino” novel are sorrow or sadness, fear, blame, and anxiety. For examples, Samantha was sad when her husband left her and found another woman after seven years of their marriage, Samantha was feared when she knew that she could not walk again, Samantha was blaming herself when she could not do anything to help her aunt, Caroline because she was sick at that time, and she was anxious if she could not win the court to adopt Timmie as her child. And the ways to solve her psychological conflicts were by making compromise. In other words she did some things to overcome her psychological conflicts. For examples, when Samantha had been divorced by her husband, she took a rest to go to California and cured her pain there by having advice from Charlie, and when she could not accept the reality to be a handicapped person, Charlie always supported her that she could pass her life as a normal person before.
