The concept of self is a way of looking at himself from all things, which is obtained from the process from the experiences of thinking and socializing with their environment. The concept of self-sangant important during the development process, particularly at primary school age children, which at that age including the beginning of the academic environment students are familiar. If at this age the child already has a mistaken self concept about themselves, fear it would disrupt the process of academic development. This study aims to determine self-concept on students at Government Elementary School Sudirman Malang, particularly on students who have barriers to learning. This research is a qualitative research as research procedures which produce descriptive data in the form of words written or spoken of the people and the observed behavior. Technique in data collection in this study were interviews, observation, documentation and intelligence tests. The subjects of the study was a madrassa student ibtidayah (MI) at Government Elementary School Sudirman Malang. This study was conducted on May 28, 2005 until September 30, 2005. Self-concept data taken from the interview process have been prepared based on the idea Hurlock. Through data analysis found that subjects have a negative self-concepts such as, the subject has the perception of children stupid, easily discouraged, less independent, lazy, lack motivation of achievement, and it was very difficult to determine prospects for the future, one of which is before the subject has the ideals and expectations fore. This is influenced by several factors such as your name and the nickname given to the subjects, the school environment that is no longer cooperate with the subject, lack social support because the subject is less socializing, parenting of parents do not give a good learning process, self-image that is always subject assume that he is a stupid child, and the assumption that as long as this subject is never achieve success. 3 By working with parties who have direct relationships with subjects such as the elderly subjects, subject teachers, subject tutors at home, and friends of the subject, especially a friend of one class together to assist and support the process of establishing a good self-concept on self-subject.
